    • Hi - I'm Dan! I tend to have trouble staying focused while doing something as simple and enjoyable as watching movies, so Eric invited me to join in and hold myself accountable by tracking and writing about what I see in 2013.

    Today I saw Joel and Ethan Coen's A Serious Man (2009). When this parable about Jewish culture, cynical humour and the futility of existence first came out, everyone I knew urged me specifically to go out and see the movie as fast as I can. After finally sitting down to watch it, I don't know why they felt the need to - I live it every day!

    It's good to know that my friends and moviegoing audiences everywhere finally understand me. Someday, dear readers, you will too.

    In addition to that, each week, Dan and I will swap films from past and present, picks that we may be well acquainted with, and sometimes choices to which we might've never given the time of day.

    This week, I have to rewatch Roman Polanski's neo-noir classic, Chinatown.

    For Dan, I have picked the film that won Nicolas Cage an Oscar, Leaving Las Vegas

    I'm real excited to see how this pans out!
